Tech billionaire Elon Musk is causing a stir in Pennsylvania as he supports former President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign. Musk’s latest campaign strategy involves offering $1 million a day to swing-state voters who sign his political action committee’s petition advocating for constitutional rights.
From now until November 5, Musk’s @America PAC will award $1 million daily to a randomly selected individual in swing states who have signed the petition. The petition supports free speech and the right to bear arms. “We want to make sure that everyone in swing states hears about this, and I suspect this will ensure they do,” Musk posted on X early Sunday morning.
The campaign kicked off with a $1 million award to John Dreher, a Pennsylvania resident, during an event in Harrisburg. Musk stated at the rally, “The only thing we ask for the million dollars is that you be a spokesperson for the petition, and that’s it.” Dreher expressed his surprise and gratitude, noting he had “no idea” he was selected.

Legal and Ethical Concerns
The legality of Musk’s initiative has been questioned. Under federal law, paying someone to register to vote is a crime. However, Musk’s campaign focuses on signing a petition, not voter registration. Legal experts have labeled it a gray area, open to interpretation. Similar initiatives have been noted in the Democratic camp within Pennsylvania and nationally, adding complexity to the ethical debate.
