At Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, his daughter, Inés Napa, greeted him with a bottle of pisco, Peru’s national drink. Meanwhile, in his hometown of San Andrés, Ica, residents and relatives decorated the streets in celebration.
His niece, Leyla Torres Napa, revealed that the family planned to celebrate his birthday, which had passed while he was lost at sea.
“The day of his birth was unique because all that he could eat was a small cookie. For us, he has been reborn.”
